Carefree, Arizona is everything you would expect from a small town in the Southwest, but better. Not only are landscapes breathtaking, but the quality of life is a mix of rugged meets charm. Neighboring urban cities know Carefree for its giant sundial but ask any local, and they will tell you that Carefree is a unique place to live for so many other reasons.
It’s estimated that Carefree has only about 4,000 residents, all of which work together to bring culture, arts, and environment together. With the Desert Gardens nearby, plenty of farmer’s markets and regular art festivals; the city embraces both its small nature and big beauty.
What you might not know about this small town is that it once played home to one of Hollywood’s grandest film stages. The Dick Van Dyke Show as well as Bob Hope’s Last feature film “Cancel my Reservations.” More recently, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure was also shot at the location.
Entertainment and Environment
There is always something going on in Carefree to stay entertained. The city thrives on “going local” with excellent food and wine festivals and shopping from local artisans. In April, people come to Carefree for World Tai Chi Day and practice together in the desert landscape. And speaking of Landscapes, Carefree sits at the edge of the Tonto National Forest and is marked by the notable “Balck Mountain.”
